Portland Zoo Trip

The kids snuggled in bed with me Sunday morning while Daddy ran downstairs to get breakfast. This picture doesn't quite show it but they were cuddled together and it was pretty dang cute!
Sarah made a friend at the zoo. They played "hide-n-seek" behind this sculpture. I love the look on her face in this picture!
At the giraffe exhibit. The kids hopped up on a ledge with cousin Michaela. They were just the right height for all the glass partitions!
Sarah at the Meerkat exhibit. She didn't realize the glass was there and bonked her head as she tried to get closer. There's a meerkat on the stump in front of her.
Caleb at the Orangutan exhibit. There is one right in front of him. This isn't the best picture. I was enjoying the interaction between the two that by the time I remembered to take a picture Caleb's interest had waned. It was cute though. He was talking to the orangutan.

More Zoo Pictures

There's a bobcat on the tree in the background. Sarah is pointing to another one that you can't see in the picture.
They had a giant acquarium with Coho Salmon that were huge! There were lots of other fish too. The kids really liked this one.
They are checking out a pair of Polar Bear twins with Daddy. The polar bears are boy/girl twins that are 23 years old. They loved the bears!

They are checking out he polar bear habitat through little porthole windows. It was cute there were several little windows at varying heights so the kids had one just their size.

Sesame Street Live

We took the kids to Portland to see this show. They developed a sudden love of Elmo a month or so ago and we couldn't resist. They had a blast. The first picture is of the opening number with all the characters. Unfortunately it's a little blurry. There are pictures of each of the kids. Sarah danced, sang, clapped and pretty much wanted to be part of the show. Caleb was completely mesmerized by it all and most of the pictures of him reflect that. The show was about 20 minutes too long and they got a little restless by intermission but overall, they did really well. It was fun for us to see how they enjoyed it and got so excited.

Birthday Fun!

So we obviously had an Elmo themed birthday. The kids have been all about Elmo for a couple of months now. So I made an Elmo cake and the first picture is of them with their Elmo balloons.

They both blew out their candles and then went to work on the cake. They had different strategies. Sarah picked the whole piece up and took bites while Caleb went at it face first.
Every birthday I plan to decorate their bedroom door(s). This year it was Elmo of course. They woke up to it and were very excited. It was a very fun birthday. They were really into all of it this year. We didn't do a party, just us and grandma and grandpa for a little outdoor bbq since the weather was gorgeous. This weekend we head up to Portland to see Sesame Street Live (go figure!) and a trip to the zoo on Sunday. It will be a blast!

More Birthday

Caleb and Sarah each riding their new horse. It was a gift from Grandma and Grandpa. They love it. It makes horse sounds too! They are quite the little riders! Then Sarah is trying to help put Caleb's hat back on. He wasn't too into the hats!

Eugene Half-Marathon

On May 4th, I ran the Eugene Half-Marathon. My time was 2:01:10 for an average pace of 9:16. I was pretty pleased. I told everyone my goal was to finish at 2:05 or better but secretly I wanted to be under 2 hours. O'well. I did it and I'm happy about that. I finished in the top third overall and in the top 25% for both women and my age group. The first picture is just before the finish line and then me with the Duck. Goofy look on my face but give me a break, I just ran 13 miles! It was a great run and the support on the course is amazing! Next up, the Butte to Butte and then the Coburg half.
